The 3-day Uganda Gorilla Tracking and Lake Bunyonyi tour will give you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have an up-close encounter with a family of Mountain gorillas in their habitat followed by a visit to Lake Bunyonyi, a historical lake of over one thousand islands each with a history attached to it.

During this tour, you will traverse the central and southern parts of Uganda giving you a chance as well to drive through the traditional towns of Uganda, cross the Equator line twice, and meet the local communities of Uganda along the way to misty, magical tropical rain forests of Bwindi National park where you will have a chance to track and encounter the magnificent mountain gorillas the gentle giants roaming in their habitat the forests of Bwindi you will spend one hour with them once you find them then after your gorilla trek you will visit Lake Bunyonyi for a canoe boat ride and village walks.

This tour is open to any date throughout the year and depending on availability we will book your trek in either Buhoma, Nkuringo, Rushaga, or Ruhija, this tour can be tailored to best fit your budget and interests ranging from accommodation requirements, to transport, and meals throughout the tour.

Day 1: Uganda gorilla tracking and Lake Bunyonyi tour Transfer to Bwindi Forest

The 3-day Uganda gorilla tracking and Lake Bunyonyii tour will start with a transfer from Entebbe or Kampala or Entebbe International Airport if you land in the very early morning hours, to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in South Western Uganda where you will spend two nights.

The journey spans approximately 8-9 hours by road and offers an enriching experience as it traverses myriad local communities and towns. The route showcases the breathtaking cascading and rolling hills of the Kigezi region, providing a picturesque backdrop. Additionally, travelers have the opportunity to cross the equator, affording them the chance to partake in en-route photography and an equator experience. Subsequently, the journey continues to Mbarara, where a stop for lunch is scheduled before proceeding to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla tracking day and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for Overnight.

After early morning breakfast, you will drive to the Park headquarters for registration and joining others for a gorilla trekking briefing about the dos and the don’ts during your Uganda Gorilla Tracking Tour. Once this is done, you will track through the tropical rain forest of Bwindi your ranger guides to find the Gorillas, which can take you from half an hour to three-quarters of the day. During your trek, you will have a chance to encounter other wildlife including, various bird species and tree species which your guide which give you information about to make the trek enjoyable. This is indeed an extraordinary feeling being with these beautiful endangered Creatures. You will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and thus contributing to the conservation of mountain gorillas.

Day 3: Morning Canoe Boat Ride, Transfer to Entebbe/Kampala, and end of the Uganda gorilla tracking tour.

After your breakfast, you will do a canoe boat ride on the lake to visit various islands, Lake Bunyonyi is one of the three Lava damned Lakes which was formed when lava flowing from one of the volcanoes blocked a river channel and water was forced to flow back hence filling the space to create lake Bunyonyi. Locally, Bunyonyi means small birds due to the abundance of small birds in this area. Lake Bunyonyi is said to be the deepest lake in Uganda and the second deepest in Africa. A person visits Lake Bunyonyi for its beauty and is one of the best places to relax after your gorilla trek, you will then be driven to Kampala or Entebbe for your post-tour accommodation or you may choose to fly out of Uganda today. You will use the same Uganda Gorilla Tracking Tour route as to when you came through.
