Overview
On this 5-day safari in Uganda, you’ll track rare primates in Bwindi Impenetrable and Kibale National Park.
You’ll cross the Equator line twice, meet local communities, and enjoy beautiful scenery. You’ll have the unique opportunity to track mountain gorillas in Bwindi and go chimp tracking in Kibale.
The gorilla habituation experience is a full-day encounter with gorillas, characterized by movement with researchers and ranger guides.
This tour is available on any date throughout the year, and we can tailor it to best fit your budget and interests.
Detailed Itinerary
Your safari driver guide will be waiting for you at either a guest house or lodge in Entebbe or Kampala, or at Entebbe International Airport if you arrive in the early morning hours.
The journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in South Western Uganda will take approximately 8-9 hours but rest assured that it will be a scenic and enjoyable one.
You will be driving through various local communities and towns along the road while admiring the beautiful cascading and rolling hills of the Kigezi region.
Notably, you will have the chance to cross the equator where you’ll stop for an en-route photography and equator experience before continuing to Mbarara for lunch.
After lunch, you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for an overnight stay.

After enjoying an early morning breakfast, you will proceed to the Park Headquarters to register for the Uganda Gorilla Habituation tour.
There, you will meet with other tourists and receive a briefing on the dos and don’ts of the tour. After the briefing, you will embark on a trek through the tropical rainforest of Bwindi with your ranger guides in search of the gorillas.
The trek can take anywhere from half an hour to three-quarters of the day, depending on various factors.
During the trek, you will have the opportunity to encounter other wildlife species, including various birds and trees.
Your guide will provide you with information about the different species, making the trek more enjoyable. Being in the presence of these beautiful and endangered creatures is an extraordinary feeling.
Upon completing the gorilla trek, you will receive a certificate for your participation, which will contribute to the conservation of mountain gorillas.

On this day you will drive to Kibale Forest National Park for 2 nights at Chimpanzee Forest Guest House, the park is East of Rwenzori Mountain captured with tropical rain forests.
The park is best known for its 13 species of primates which include Uganda’s largest population of Chimpanzees and other large mammals such as Elephants, Buffalos, and giant forest hogs which are however rarely seen.

After a hearty breakfast, you will drive to the Park headquarters to register for your Uganda Chimpanzee Trekking tour.
Once there, you’ll join other tourists for a Chimpanzee habituation briefing, where you’ll be thoroughly informed about the dos and don’ts during the trek.
You’ll then set out with your ranger guides and trek through the tropical rainforest of Kibale Forest National Park to find the Chimpanzees.
This can take you anywhere from half an hour to three-quarters of the day, but you’ll persevere until you find them. Once you do, you’ll be able to observe them for over four hours.
Your trek will also offer you the chance to encounter other wildlife, including various bird and tree species, which your guide will describe to make the trek more enjoyable.
Being with these magnificent creatures is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and you don’t want to miss it.
To top it off, you can take the Bigodi Wetland Walk before or after your chimpanzee trek. It’s an initiative set up to support the local community, and all the earnings are reinvested back into the community.
