The hanging platform that spreads over the Nyungwe Forest allows visitors to view different animal species at eye level. Nyungwe Forest National Park is home to many types of primates, and driving through it will enable you to see many of them. In addition, you will see a variety of monkeys and baboons along the road. A visit to this forest is indeed worth it!
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
You will depart from Kigali and visit some of the area’s historical sites en route. These sites include Kamegeri Rock, the King’s palace museum in Nyanza, and the Ethnographic Museum in Huye. Then, have your lunch in the afternoon and drive to Gisakura. Your overnight accommodation will be at a recommended hotel, lodge, or guesthouse in Gisakura.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk
After an early breakfast (4:45am), we will drive to the Chimp trekking point. After trekking, the canopy walkway follows. This walkway is 50 meters above ground and 200 meters long. The dizzying platform is above a steep, deep valley across a massive forest. The hanging platform, which allows visitors to view different animal species in the Nyungwe Forest National Park, spreads over hundreds of square meters and will let visitors be at eye level with different primate and bird species, all of which inhabit the upper scales of the forest.
Day 3: Tea Factory Tour and Lake Kivu
During this 2-hour tour of the tea factory, you will gain a deep understanding of how tea is produced. Afterward, you will head to Kibuye for a visit to Napoleon Island and a Kivu boating experience, or drive to Huye and depart back to Kigali.
